For Dr Vinisha, September 2025 was more than a volunteer trip. It was a homecoming to Labasa, Fiji, where she joined a team of Australian volunteers to deliver essential dental and medical services to remote communities. This outreach mission to her hometown was organised in partnership with the Essenson Foundation and focused on providing accessible, compassionate care to individuals who often go without it.
Making a Meaningful Impact
From 20 to 27 September 2025, a volunteer team of 14 professionals worked across several rural locations. Over just four and a half days of clinics, they were able to see 859 people and deliver 1,134 dental and medical procedures, an estimated $644,000 AUD in care provided to the community at no cost.
Services included:
- Oral hygiene education
- Fillings and minimally invasive restorative care
- Gentle extractions
- Pain relief support and general dental services
A Personal Mission for Dr Vinisha
“This project was especially meaningful because it took place in my hometown,” says Dr Vinisha. “I am grateful for the opportunity to give back and to work with such a dedicated team of volunteers.”
Her commitment to community-focused care continues to inspire her work in Australia today. She looks forward to future outreach programs and continuing to make a positive difference in people’s lives both locally and abroad!
